Those people who left probably didn't use common sense and think "Gee -- if this kid could get us sick, would he really be out in public?"
That's pretty sad. My little cousin has been friends with a little boy across the street from her almost all her life. They're both 9 now. He was just diagnosed with brain cancer and had surgery. He lost a lot of his brain function as a result, and can hardly walk, talk, etc. Almost appears to be completely drunk. It is the saddest thing. I was just playing baseball with him not too long ago.

Happy Birthday to your daughter! I hope she has a wonderful day!
That is sad, but people are so paranoid now, they're afraid of everything! A few years ago I was going through chemo and had lost all my hair, most of my eyelashes and eyebrows ... you should have seen some of the stares I got! Sometimes I would go to the store with my bald head just to freak people out!

I had a very bad reaction to a shot I got once as a result I lost most of my skin. [ see Stevens-Johnson's syndrome] . It affected my eyes, at times I had to ride public transportation no one would sit near me on the bus and the grocery store I had shopped in for years asked me not to come back till I healed. [8 months] . The funny part I was absolutely no threat to them but I had the great risk of infection from them ! Most people are rude pigs. Thank you for not leaving. I am an adult and it was hard for me to feel shunned. My prayers go out to that child and I hope he heals soon and bears no emotional scars !

For the most part it depends on the story and the guy. I think most men would expect some sort of sympathy, or empathy at the very least.

I'm actually pretty horrified to hear that - I see sick and disabled children and adults in public all the time (and I'm not exactly the picture of health myself), and have never seen anything like that. That is beyond cruel.

On the one hand, I'd say people are pigs. On the other, they didn't know this kid's story, and they weren't about to ask. So rather than take the risk of this kid making their kids sick, they erred on the side of caution and moved.

It is very sad that people have no respect for one another. I'm glad you and your family stayed at the restaurant and were thankful for having your family together, safe and healthy.
