In reality stupid does not exists. It is a societal label of something which is a human display that is an unacceptable thought, behavior, creation, etc., which is so far below for even the Bell curve to register.
All organisms have moments of stupidity. It is a Law of Nature, but, it is those organisms with the traits who can adapt to changing conditions ( in society) that survive and live on.

Ignorance is curable. Whereas stupidity is the choice of remaining ignorant. It usually starts when we are young and think we know it all. It also happens when we join groups that claim to know it all, such as politics and religions.

First, stupidity is not a choice.
Stupid & its synonyms refer to lack of intellect, perceptivity, or wisdom. Similar to unintelligent, which is low mental ability. Not to be confused with ignorant; simply lacking knowledge. Obtuse, perhaps the most formal, refers to slow-wittedness. A stupid person is incapable of assimilating knowledge.

Generally , it means that you know better than to do something, but you do it anyway, even though experience and common sense would tell you otherwise. Its the kind of thing that you can't chalk up to being naive or ignorant (not knowing). You only have yourself to blame for doing things that are "stupid".

good question: before attempting to answer, some similar words have to be looked at: IGNORANT- attempting to do something without all the knowledge or skills needed; CARELESS- attempting to do something without using the knowledge or skill you have gained and do so without concern for the outcome; ARROGANT- self centered, self serving attitude with absolutely no concern for anything except self. STUPID- the sum all the above in any combination

To think you are in any way better than any other person on this planet. Just because your beliefs differ, doesn't mean the other person is wrong. Our beliefs are what give us hope for the future, does it really matter how that hope is attained? I feel genuinely sorry for intolerant people.
