Summer, he has never said he hates America. On the contrary, he likes America to give discounted heating oil to poor communities in our country during the winter.

Vaughn, this week Obama "got in trouble" for saying he would meet with Chavez if he got elected President.

No it's not wrong. It's not like Obama or Penn meant they would have a nice dinner with him and become BFF (best friends forever).

Why could Penn choose for to fulfill Chavez? Now, some could diss me, yet I even have been to Venezuela and that i will assure that Chavez is one hundred% uninteresting hubris; huge ego plus he's manic from eating 20 espressos an afternoon! My constrained know-how of psychological ailment and psychology tells me he's a manic-depressive and delusional (paranoid and in any different case), verging on schizophrenic. he's not stupid, he's in basic terms a mango wanting a sizeable fruit salad! i be conscious of this from staring at him for days on end on the national television channel in Venezuela. honest adequate - human beings voted for him, he's what they wanted, he's what they have have been given. Venezuela is extremely a severe-high quality u . s . a . and the each and every person is incredibly severe-high quality (with exceptions, of direction). somewhat fascinating and many staggering issues to work out from the Andes to the Llanos to the Caimanos (Amazon section) and Angel Falls to three of maximum idyllic seashores and islands in the worldwide. So i could advise every person is going - properly, the adventurous varieties, besides as transport infrastructure isn't all that great. yet i do no longer think of i could choose for to fulfill Chavez if I had an engraved invitation and it is not something to do with my politics, i think of he'd in basic terms bore and/or annoy me to loss of life.

I don't think it's wrong. But one article I read said that Hugo was "using Sean Penn" to gain popularity with Americans I believe. Didn't Mike Wallace interview some the President of Iran and maybe another terrorist. But Hugo is apparently one America's biggest critic. that's where the criticism comes from.

No. In fact, Penn, Harry Belafonte, and Cindy Sheehan are doing what George W. Bush and Conoleeza Rice should be doing: establishing some dialogue with Chavez. Just because he called Georgie-Porgie some bad names, Bush now has a personal vendetta against Chavez, just as he and his family had against Hussein. You can't run a country on personal bias or bigotry. Bush and Rice should be talking to Chavez to try and keep peace in the Americas. -RKO- 08/04/07

Obama "got in trouble" because Hillary is on a mission to discredit him.
Hillary Clinton was quoted as saying the same thing back in February, but since she knows Senator obama is a threat to her campaign for office, she claims now that what he said is inexperienced, and a bad choice.

As Americans we are free to roam wherever they'll let us in. We are free to speak to whomever wants a conversation. Isn't stopping us from doing such things Communist? Oh so you're all so shocked that Penn is speaking to Chavez. So what? You never know, sometimes a meeting of minds can produce marvelous things. It amazes how quick everyone is to make judgment. You know nothing other than what you read and listen to.

It depends on why, and how they use the meeting. If it's for official, diplomatic purposes, or even to gain information for the good of all, I have no problem. When it's used for propaganda, in either direction, I find it annoying and cheap.
Just to clarify--has Obama ever met with Chavez? I'm pretty sure he hasn't.
ETA: Thanks, Longhaired. I thought he'd just said that he would meet with "other leaders" if he were president.

It is morally wrong to meet with Mr. Chavez and denounce the U.S. How anyone could collaborate
with supporters of radical Islam's Jihad and be called a good guy is beyond me. Chavez is a foolish and dangerous man and I don't think he is long for the world at his current rate of radical change. Penn can just come back to the loving wrath of all those that hate him here.

He has done away with their Constitution, their freedom of the press. he has declared himself the only law there. Do you not remember the hundreds of thousands that went into the streets to protest the taking over of the only T.V. station that criticized him.Our definition of Patriotic is different. He has Nationalize everything that produces anything. Its communism.
