How is a public relations stunt "an attempt to seriously injure the United States"?? This is not a treasonous act; there is no sedition here. The only 'crime' Chavez is guilty of is insulting and ridiculing an impotent, cowardly, idiotic, insane U.S. President. Chavez has been critical of the Bush administration's reckless policies, and Chavez knows that if he lets Bush and Cheney roll over on him as they did on Hussein, the U.S. will steal all of Venezuela's OIL. We unconstitutionally, illegally, unjustifiably and immorally attacked Iraq all for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. We will soon go to 'war' with Iran for the very same reasons. Chavez, whose country holds the third largest oil reserves in the world, knows that if he shows any signs of weakness, the United States will attack like a rabid dog.
George W. Bush and Condoleeza Rice should be having diplomatic conversations with Chavez to ease the tension. But Bush is pissed off because of the remarks Chavez made at the United Nations, and - just as the Bush family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein - George W. Bush will only want to 'settle the score' with Chavez.
National leadership should be about more than 'getting even', 'winning', and 'protecting national interests' (that last one can be interpreted as, "Why is all OUR oil underneath all THEIR land?"). What Sean Penn, Cindy Sheehan and others have done is what Bush & Co. should be doing - trying to establish peace in the Americas before it becomes an all-out war over OIL. -RKO- 08/04/07

Nobody outside the ranks of the hard core Busheviks is taking Hugo Chavez seriously as a threat to the US. Not to make war on us, not to overthrow us, not even to do us an injury. So, no. They aren't committing treason.
He does seriously harm the Right Wing just by existing, and is a threat to Corporate profits, especially oil company profits, since he commands enough oil production to bring supply just to the level where prices start to drop. But their interests are not America's.
We tolerate Right Wing Dictatorships all over the World, what makes Lefties such a terrible threat? And why do Busheviks want us to boycott the only Oil Company that DOESN'T support Islamic Terrorists?

I even have helped plan and execute reunions for my previous due grandfather's shipmates, a minimum of people who survived the jap assaults that sunk their deliver in 1945. they have all finished what they are noted as upon to do, have acted bravely, and deserve our admire no depend what our place on the conflict is. I in basic terms think of the guy that despatched them over there's a tyrant. Does that make me a traitor? In precis, i think of you are the explanation why we've a shape in any respect. this would properly be a rustic the place you're meant to be able to precise your disagreement with the corporation, and exercising your top to vote tin a fashion it is consistent jointly with your ideals and morals.

They'll say anything for the Labor Unions. That's how they keep their jobs. Unions = Democrats. Democrats want to win the election and cannot do so if Bush is successful.

The last time I checked, Chavez had a working deal with a major oil company, providing heating oil to poor Americans
at affordable prices.
Your Bush administration talking points probably have blinded you to this, and you are all about The Evil Chavez. To my mind, our hating him is something we are being manipulated to do by the virulent right wing flunkies of Cheney & Co. I have no real proof that Chavez is the terrible beast you guys make him out to be.
When I see Cheney use some of his resources to get heating oil to poor Americans, I'll change my personal list of who is actually evil and who is not.
For now, for me, Chavez is a much better person than that sneering cretin who pulls George Bush's strings.
Since you asked.
