i think we will have great advances in technology, which we probably cant even imagine right now, we will accept these readily
i think society will progress, slowly, and we will act like these changes are major and accept them slowly, often only when government forces them on us, such as in seat belt laws, domestic abuse laws, dont smoke indoors in public laws etc, things that are really for our own benefit , and many will avoid them for as long as they can
at some point we will finally make illegal the hitting of children, for any reason
so we will continue to evolve, mentally way behind the physical or technical
and for many, at the core of it all, will be family, love, providing for ourselfs and our family, and finding comfort and entertainment, the same focus we have now, and have had forever

I don't know for sure, but it is thrilling to think! China if not already, will be the second major superpower within 10-15 years. The EU will either grow stronger, or Germany might just bulk up enough to leave the EU and use it's own system again, once the federal reserve is set. Iran might the nuclear bomb, causing another desert war. Syria will invade Israel, prompting a nuclear strike on Damascus (Already promised by Israel if Syrian troops touches their territory). North Korea's economic position will get worse and in a last ditch effort, invade the south. Oh, how much we have to look forward to!

Ah yes, technology as we know it today in 2013 is amazingly far-reaching. I can only imagine what the world will be like 40 years from now! I do think that cars will run on electricity. The need for gasoline will be gone. I do feel that the world will have become by then one of isolates. Land lines gone..money gone..it will all be done with the wave of a card. If you want to speak to someone press a button..they appear on your phone....as you do theirs. Modern medicine will keep people alive well beyond their useful years. The advances in medicine will be so far-reaching as to be unheard of in this day and age.
There will be more and more air travel as the roads become more and more congested.
Today's rich will be tomorrows poor and the ability to travel in some type of helicopter will be all the rage..I feel that emotionally cold people will run the countries.
In forty years everything you need will not be at Walmart. Most store functions will be auto replaced anyway..jobs will be created for the new world order and the things we do now for instance like typing this note will be done via the spoken word. It is already like this!
Operations will be done by robots and office visits will all be automated procedures...
Any and all kinds..what people will do I am perplexed about...I would imagine we would need humans to replace broken parts and replace batteries..Electricity will be the leader in the Utility world. People will not have to carry their children if they opt out as it will be done in incubators. But we must remember to have physical touch..learning at Universities will be done with computer classrooms and the concept of one on one learning while sitting at home is already here..It seems to me that it will be a quiet madness..a longing to go back and find a real book..an actual newspaper, a person who is old and has wrinkles..to find a water hose and wash your own car..these will be things that people no longer do but can remember. The human touch and connection will have become a thing of the past. Homes will be so well built that weather could not destroy them. Well-stocked pantry shelves and ordering in top of the line meals will be all the rage. Fly over and a juicy steak awaits your taste buds..no dishes to be done..a world
of isolated people who have no personalities but can play computer games and computers will have become a thing of the past by then replaced by more and more tablets! I see loneliness but not the awareness of it by the people who will be here 40 years from now. I see it for them in my mind and heart. Love will be different..not attaching more a thing of easy come easy go..no more overweight people or sickly people as the new meds will prevent both..I would save up my books and stamps?? Oh my! what would we need a stamp for?

More technology... which is a good thing I guess. Hopefully they'll come up with some mandatory alternative fuel solutions. A couple more wars... hopefully we won't blow ourselves up.

I am hopeful that (being 30 years old now) I'll still be alive and grooving with the technology... not like one of those people who say, "I can't use a computer... I don't know how..."

My dad is a compu-whiz... as long as he's around, I'll be kept in 'the know'.

I dont think we will have walking robots and floating cars, or anything like that. The reason why is that there are actually cars that were built before this century that could run on water, and they have not been released because they have been bribed by the gas industry to keep it hush hush, same with cars that can actually run off of AIR. Im not pulling your leg, there are cars that were manufactured that use pressurized air to move a large shaft to move the wheels.

probably the same as it is now, only a few more major inventions. (not like "hover-cars" or "smelly-vision" and such :p)
but artificial limbs etc etc. the house of parliament will be corrupt. there will be at least 3 wars in 40 yrs. there will be a new Saddam on the scene and Russia will have control of whats left of the arctic ice caps for the oil/gold/gas reserves

WE will not know until WE go to Work on it. We have the choice to contribute.

What will it be like in 20, 30, and 40 seconds? We cannot know. But WE can affect it by improving ourselves.

At our current rate of growth, in 50 years we'll be at 10 billion souls, with zero fossil fuels, zero coal and other natural resources. Wars will be fought over water. The burgeoning populations will mostly be in the third world countries.

Will technology hope to save the day?....maybe. Will we change our ways and avoid the impending train wreck?....unlikely. Will there be some cataclysmic event that will bring us back to more sustainable levels?.....probably

im not sure the world will be here then. i believe Jesus will return before then but if not.America will probably fall from its status as super power and there will be less food and reserves to go around and people will not be able to progress because of not havign the basics in life like clean food, water, clothes. i see no good in the future although i would like to change this and do try to do my part . but right now looking at the state of our world it just dont look good,. my poor children having to clean up my mess and my mother's mess and her mother's mess.
