Well, I don't have experience but i do know a very good friend who is Christian and she's from Jakarta, she married this american guy from Alaska, he flew there and they got married so as long as your Catholic, you don't have any problem, now if one of you was muslim, you or your wife would have to convert, other than that, there is not many restricions on that, if you want more info, email me back and I'll contact my friends, she's in Alaska right now, it took her 5 months to get here though.

if both of u are catholic there won't be any problem. in Indonesia you can't get married if u having different religion and if they really want to get married they had to married abroad.

here are some of the procedure :
- registered at the government
- both of u have to take a married course in the church ( 2 weeks)
- u have to registered the married min 1 month before, because they will announce the community about ur married so if anyone know that there are reasons why u can't getting married ( such as one of u are already married or u are siblings, gay, etc) they have a change to report it and cancell the wedding.
- u need to show ur baptism letter and la statement from the ur local government that both of u are never married and this is the first time u getting married. ( if not, u can't getting married)
- and the most important things : u need to prepare a lot of money in envelope for paying everyone in government ( rp. 100.000 for the lowest level)
For the church u need to give free amount of money to the church, choir, altarboys, lektor

The previous answers explained the process of getting married in Indonesia, but not how to get a visa for your spouse. That process can take months (sometimes many months). You need to go to the nearest US Consulate in Indonesia and ask them for the list of documents they require to apply for a visa. I assume you want a Permanent Residence visa ("Green Card"). Examples are registered copy of your marriage certificate, birth certificates, divorce decrees (if applicable), and bank statements. (That's not a complete list--check with the Consulate). After you apply and submit the documents, they may ask for more documents. Then there is an interview, and then they give the visa. You need to be very patient and very persistent.

I think get married in the USA is better than in Indonesia, because your Indonesian marriage license will not be good in USA, but if you get married in USA, USA married license is good in Indonesia. I am from Bali and my husband is US citizen, we just had the ceremony in Indonesia and we got married in USA and we also only have the USA married license. It took me 1 year to get my visa, it was a Fiancee visa. I dont know how long it will take your fiancee to get visa after both of u get married. Hopefully it won`t be that long. Different experience for everybody. I have my co-worker got married in Phillipines and his wife had to wait 1 year to get US visa.

im kinda in the same boat... us citizen marrying indonesian woman... i would highly recommend getting an immigration attourney, i paid $100 for alot of info. they will handle the whole thing for about $500 plus all your fees to the government, which just went up alot..... i was told, right now, minimum of 7 months to get her here after we marry. send me email if you can... maybe we can help each other out through the process. dont forget all documents have to be translated by a certified translator.... good luck......
