the fact that people consider r kelly king of anything makes my stomach churn. i am just so tired of some members of my community/family etc. who seem to overlook the fact that "kells" is a predator who was married to a 14 yr old (aaliyah) when he was a grown man & also was having sex with a little girl when he was even older.

his brother has informed people that "kells" is phoney with his fans & is a self-serving fake. r kelly needs 2 be shut down & we need 2 stop giving these guilty "brothas" a free pass 2 exploit young, needy girls for their own sick crap.

as a mother of 2, it all just sickens me, the attitude of SISTAHS who defend the man, i know how dudes can be down for one another, especially considering some of them have also messed up & slept with girls who were just shy of that 18th birthday.

by the way, until i read the actual court documents in both the 14 yr old cases & others! i was an adoring fan of "kells" but after i read the cases & saw the videos, i destroyed every r kelly cd & i had them ALL!!

That title is definitely more deserving for Luther Vandross or Marvin Gaye. R. Kelly is giving himself that title, he reminds me of Jermaine Dupri, he's everywhere and nowhere at the same time. JD and Kelly both have made some good songs over the years, but don't hold up in comparison. Don't take my word for it though, these are live performances -

R.Kelly better known as Kells(please) now a days does not in anyway deserve the title 'King of R&B
Don't get me wrong his good and I like some of his music, his just not that good.
P.S.
Isn't he a pedophile(at least until proven guilty)

no way.......sure he's very versatile in his music and that's why he has managed to stay in the game for so long. but he's NOT the King of R&B. In fact, nowadays it's hard to pinpoint who would be considered the king of r&b......I think of like babyface and michael jackson....from back in the day or perhaps new edition because they were one of the main faces of r&b.

The man needs to apologize to Bobby Womack for stealing his style. And if I had to look at this century of who could be the king, I would have to say that there aren't any in the running. Chris Brown, Omaron, B2K???? C'mon!! The pickings are slim.

He's talented, but I wouldn't call him "King". There are plenty of talented artists who don't rely on bad publicity to make papers and rally for support in the music industry. The fact is that he's not that great a singer, and his songwriting talents of late have been lacking.

Best answer right here...R.Kelly "IS" the king of r&b...period...i like chris brown too, but he would be more of the king of pop/r & b than just pure r & b...(even though justin timberlake is doin the damn thing...that white ***** can sing & no I'm not racist cuz im mixed with a lot)...& ray -j? he sux 4 real cuz he does'nt sell albums, so he had to make a porno to get money...but no one has been up there with r. kelly since he has come out & stayed consistent... (except for ginuwine but he's flopping & Usher) Kells has sold more than 50 million albums alone in the U.S...that's incredible...he was the best in the 90's & until someone really steps up...he will be there for a while!!! (But Ne-Yo & Usher have a real shot to take it over...o yeah & trey songz...he can write his *** off & he's underappreciated...don't sleep him cuz Trey Day "WILL" be fire!!!)...I'm Out...PEACE!!!

r. kelly is a joke. "trapped in the closet" is the worst album of all time, but it was really, really funny. he should be given the title "king of peeing on underage girls."

I would have to disagree, the proof is in the art. He has consistently put out classic and creative music. He is always testing the waters and trying something new to make himself stand apart from any other R&B artest. His albums sell the most and he stays on the charts so i would have to give it to R. kelly
