question 1:
step 1: simplify to 9/x plus 6/x
step 2: add them together to get 15/x

question 2:
step 1: set up the equation: 5/x+6 minus 2/x-6
step 2: multiply the top and bottom of the second part of the equation by -1.
step 3: simplify the equation that you now have(5/x+6 + 2/x+6) to get 7/x+6

18/2x = 9/x and 54/9x = 6/x [always check if each fraction reduces]
so, 9/x + 6/x = 15/x

2/(x-6) + y = 5/(x+6)
y = 5/(x+6) - 2(x-6) multiply the first by (x-6)/(x-6) and second by (x+6)/(x+6)
y = 5(x-6)/(x+6)(x-6) - 2(x+6)/(x+6)(x-6)
y = (5x-30)/(x+6)(x-6) - (2x+12)/(x+6)(x-6)
y = [5x-30-(2x+12)] / (x+6)(x-6)
y = [5x-3-2x-12] / (x+6)(x-6)
y = (3x-15) / (x+6)(x-6)

um.. the answer to the 1st question is 15x I believe.. sry, I don't kno how to do the 2nd problem.

here's how I did it...

multiply 18/2x by 4 and a half/4 and a half,
making it 81/9x,
and 81/9x + 54/9x = 135/9x
and 135 divided by 9 = 15x.
