Is that part of our birthright as Americans, or do we see them for what they are doing in bringing chaos to the Middle East?

FunkyMcNasty... I despair at you judeo christian uncle toms..... may I remind you that black Africans, slaves and free men have fought and died in several wars for the USA... They didn't legally get their freedom until 1960's..... By your reasoning the USA should be eternally grateful to the Blacks in their society and Africa at large..... I despair at you indoctrinated propaganda infested view.

It is not their fault that they are hated by the rest of the middle-east, it's ours. We were the ones that created the country of Israel and if we don't support it then it would be overrun and it's citizens would be slaughterd. The arabs hate the jews, always have and always will, and we went about creating a jewish state the wrong way, but now we know that we made a mistake and all we can do is try our best to keep millions of innocent people from being murdered. So unless you advocate the killings of thousands of jews, then you should understand why we should try to help them. It's all our fault and they are just doing their best to keep themselves safe and make the best of their situation.

I certainly don’t love Israel, so to speak. Fidelity towards Israel definitely is not an intrinsic part of being an American.

I don’t consider them an infallible nation that can do no moral wrong, the way many Republicans and right wing Christians do. However, the conflict in the Middle East is a little more complicated than one nation, under the support of the United States, foisting its tyrannical aims on the rest of the Middle East.

The rest of the Middle East has hardly played fairly in the tragedies that have transpired between Israel and those of rival nations. Palestinians and the Lebanese are militarily lesser than the Israelis. However, there status as underdogs does not absolve them of some culpability in this whole affair. The heartrending bloodshed on both sides is attributable to the fanaticism on both sides.

Any comment that merely emphasizes the villainy of one nation or one group of people over another is hardly accurate.

Its apparent that, you are not a student of history or a Christian.
Purely from an historical perspective, the founding of the U.S. has Jewish patronage. During the Revolutionary War( Valley Forge), General Washngton appealed to a Jewish benefactor for financial support. His financial contribution provided the means to strategic victory and facilitated the conclusion of the war against the British. It is said that, Washington reassured this gentleman that the Jewish people would always find solace in the Americans and the new nation of freedom, liberty, and justice.
From a religious perspective, America in its original conception was a nation of religious freedom or tolerance. And, Judeao-Christian in nature. Therefore, one cannot be a "Christian" without supporting the theology that Christ lived by(Jesus was a Jew). The Bible states in Genesis 12:3 " I will bless those who bless you." Here one can interpret the words as a blanket blessings to all that support Israel.
We are not required to love Israel. Yet, you seem oblivious to their abject persecution. On every side of their nation, they are surrounded by those that are enemies to their existence. To their back is to the sea. You seem to deny the recent archeological findings that virutally indicate the truth of the Bible and the historical relevance of Israel's national existence (B.C.E). Any student of Western Civilization knows of the Roman occupation!
The truth is, the Jewish people and the Islamic people share a geneological root in the Biblical personage of Abraham. (see Genesis 15th Chapter- the 21st Chapters).
I beg to differ with you, Israel is not the antagonist in the region. The Arabs have historically fought among its tribes and will fight anyone that enters their space.
As a former service-member and a Christian, if I had ever been called to bear arms in protection of Israel I would have without complaint. As a student of history, one can argue the the Middle East is a quagmire.
One need only look at the truth to see Israel for what it is.
Israel is a nation; with a city that the world's three leading religions call home. It all has to do with Jerusalem.
Lastly, the world would change dramatically if Israel were found to posses rich oil reserves.

No one really "has" to do anything but pay taxes and die. With regard to bringing chaos. . .that's a rather biased opinion given the Israeli's have an ancient birthright along with the other peoples of that region to that area.

We should love them. Because they have brought culture to the world. Without them, the middle east would have a population of about 10.

We don't have to love any nation...we do have to ally ourselves...that is a lesson of history.

Israel is a better form of government...more free...than the despots and tyrants throughout the Middle East...so with whom would you ally?

Can Jews vote in the West Bank?

How about in Saudi Arabia?

No, there is no such requirement.

But posts which just bash and come off sounding like factual assertions, rather than questions, would be a TOS violation and would likely be removed.

While posts in favor of something are also technically TOS violations, they are less likely to be removed than posts which attack a group or country.

Try reframing the question to remove some of your own conclusions... and just link to sites that provide background -- ideally neutral sites that just list verifiable statistics.
