Extremely difficult. I also find that they aren't all that entertaining either compared to a community saltwater tank. If you want something cheap/easy/fun try a FOWLR tank. Fish Only With Live Rock. Make sure to get the biggest tank you possibly can. I have seen setups on craigslist that would normally cost $5000 new going for only $200-500!!! If you buy off craigslist try and find a tank that is saltwater that has the whole setup such as sump, skimmer, overflow, lights, etc. Some people think it would be better to just buy a cheap freshwater setup for $100 and then buy the extra stuff but trust me, a used saltwater setup will save you thousands. :)

So many people ask about seahorses and just for starters most species should only be kept in a minimum sized tank of 30 gallons. Seahorses can grow to 12 inches and need the vertical swimmi9ng space to be happy. they are slow eaters so keeping them with other fish may cause them to starve being the other fish will eat the food befor they have the chance to get any which will cause them to slowly starve to death. id recomend keeping them with some sponge gorgonia or any type of seafan because they like to hold on to it with thier tails. they should also only be kept in a mature tank that has been running for about 6 months and only be kept by an expierenced marine aquarist. There are some species as i just found out that are smaller and can but i believe are harder to find. Do research on these animals befor you decide to keep them, they are very delicate and expensive so losing one will be a big loss. here is a link that will tell you about seahorses.

Seahorses are certainly not for 'dummies' the exact oposite, Seahorses are marine fish, And if you havent had fresh and saltwater fish before i suggest you start with a 'betta' And before you purchase your fish i suggest you do RESEARCH, Just type 'tropical fish keeping' into google And it will give you lots of sites (saves me righting them all up here) Good luck on your fishkeeping !

Yeah, I wouldn't start out with a salt water tank. Try a betta from walmart. I kept one for 4 years using tap water and goldfish flakes.

I would think so.The best place for them is in the ocean. I guess you could get an aquarium.

They won't live long in a tank. Good luck anyway.
