The LCD is m+7, so the problem becomes
(7+m)/(m+7) or 1.

In the second, the (x+4)/(x+4) divides out, so you have 1/(7x+6) db 7/(7x+6). The two denominators divide out, leaving 1/7

Problem 1

(7) / (m+7) + (m) / (m+7)

Since the two terms already have a common denominator, you can combine the two numerators:

(7+m) / (m+7)

By the commutative property, 7+m = m+7, so you have:

(m+7) / (m+7), which equals 1.

I might be wrong, but I think you cross out the like terms. The first one simplifies to 7m and the second one simplifies to 7?
