If you mean squirrels, they live in a drey.
PS. Here's the info on the drey that you requested:-
The grey squirrel builds itself a nest, or drey, about the size of a football, made of twigs, often with the leaves still attached. It is built fairly high in a tree and lined with dry grass, shredded bark, moss and feathers. A summer drey is usually quite flimsy and lodged among small branches. Sometimes the squirrel may make its nest in a hollow trunk or take over a rook’s nest, constructing a roof for it. A squirrel may build several dreys.

Hopefully you mean squirrels. You know there is a spell check available before you post your question.
The most common squirrel of North America is the gray squirrel. It lives in tree hollows in the winter, then makes a nest of dead leaves in a tree limb for summer. Of course there are variations on both these because not all gray squirrels live in the typical forest. Also, gray is the common color, there are variations from white to black.
The gray squirrel has two breeding periods. One during winter, January, the other at the end of spring, May. So, yes, the gray squirrel has family.

Squirrels live in a drey or nest in trees where they have young
who venture down when they are ready to climb and eat on their own.

Squirrels, or tree rats, live in a drey. I am afraid that they do have families.
