If you bought that restaurant, my first question is why was it for sale in the first place? Probably the previous owner was already having sales problem.

It is difficult to give you worthy advice since I don't know what kind of seafood restaurant you have, and what you have in your menu. Also it is very important to know your location and the people there.

maybe you need to rearrange stuffs in there, revamp the menu, change something there, people might think its just the same old seafood restaurant.

consider, having an aquarium where live fishes are stored and advertise that you have the freshest seafood in town. This is an often forgotten method of advertising, hanging large banners in front of your restaurant. Advertise all you want people to know about your new restaurant and don't forget to add Under NEw Management.

Since you are starting it again, it is important that your servers are friendly, always wearing a smile, this is important, sometimes even if the food isn't that good but the people are nice customers do comeback.

It would be better if i am in your place so I could give you a more detailed strategy to go about it. Anyway, hope those suggestions can help. Feel free to email.

Put a big fish bowl at the counter..people put their business cards in and you draw every week for a free dinner.

create "see ya soon" coupons that you walk around and distribute on the tables.

leave a 5 question survey on the table....but have an incentive for them if they actually fill it out....

try to find out what people like or dont like about your food.

be sure to ask what their favorite thing on the menu is...this is solid marketing info that you can use to lure them back when you send them a post card.

If you care to share more about the specific things you've already tried in advertising, and how you operate on a day to day basis, I could probably be more effective in setting your crerative thought processes into a successful direction.

Perhaps a "grand opening" under "new ownership" may help. I'd also definetely persue the local press, see if they'll do a highlight piece on you in the paper or on the local news station. Sorry I don't have any additional advice. Good luck!

I am not a restaurant owner but I deal with them alot and one owner said that it is important to be around other restaurants because when peopl go out they want to have a choice and nobody is going to go out of their way to go to your restaurant unless it is super spectacularly good.
also have you tried flyers door to door. probably the cheapest advertising if you do it yourself and have family help you.
