It seems to be the new and upcoming generation and it sucks. It will cause more murders, fights etc; for our future society. Also these people have very low self esteem and have no confidence to be happy because they are not (misery loves company). Some are spoiled brats from their parents too. My advice you are never to old for a good kick in the pants and it looks ridiculous seeing an adult or older teen acting this way they look foolish to everyone around them. That's my two cent's and I'm sticking to it...

Possible causes:
(1) They are either projecting past feelings or injuries onto a new situation, as a sign they have not healed or as an attempt to release the anger or pain from some other source
(2) They are using this method of creating walls or space as boundaries between them and other people who would either react by staying away if they don't want to deal with it; or trying to sympathize, understand the source, and help work through the process of addressing or healing the emotions behind it.
So either way, they may be trying to push away people or unconsciously sending a signal showing they need help to resolve some issue
(3) Some people just have a gruff way of interacting, whether or not they mean anything by it. There are cultural or personal differences in speaking, acting or gesturing that do not necessarily mean they feel a certain way toward someone. I met a man who totally gave people the wrong impression, until you got to know him and found out he just talked very gruff and crude but did not mean to be ugly or disrespectful.

In general, the human spirit and emotions naturally seek to find balance and order, healing and harmony; so anything to the contrary means there is some underlying conflict, whether personal or cultural, that may need to be addressed or worked around in order to interact with other people without misunderstanding, miscommunication or other issue.

I can't say for sure why other people have to be mean, but I've been mean because I like being mean. It's very satisfying to stomp someone into the metaphorical ground and watch them snivel.

It's a sucky way to be. Me, not them. It's hard to get over, but I think with diligence and patience, I'll be able to continue my quit with the meanness agenda for the rest of my life. So far, I've been doing pretty good. (Unfortunately, the golden rule doesn't work for me because I like it when people are mean to me. I can be mean back.)

It is a choice. To some, it can be easier than being nice. Think about how much money you would save if you didn't have to buy gifts for anyone? Sometimes a person opens up to someone and gets hurt, then takes it out on everybody else. Just remember, they have no reason, just excuses.

Certain people are mean more often then, and the meanest people you will ever see, have the less respect. Mean people don't care about respect, and they don't care looking like a mean lowlife. Mean people are lowlifes, because they don't know how to act like an average person.

well we all are mean in different ways but, when we choose to show it off is the difference btwn people. those people that have been brought up in families of violence and abuse are usually the ones that carry it on. im not saying that they cant change b/c they can its only them who can break the cycle. all i can suggest is be nice to everyone and lend a hand to those who need it. THOSE WHO ARE TOUGHEST TO LOVE ARE THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST.

My thinking is, people who are mean and hateful to others are insecure and unhappy with themselves. Lacking self love. Therefore unable to treat others with respect and dignity, they do not know what these things are. God bless****

I think anything one does is a reflection of his state of being. If one is mean, it might be because one is insecure about one's own ability and he tries to cover that feeling up or defend himself. Those who don’t realise that they’re insecure, act in a certain way to try and cover up the weakness that they might be feeling about certain things. So someone might be mean to you if they perceive you as beautiful and they might be insecure about there own looks, or because you’re smart and they are insecure about their own intelligence, or because she's insecure as a mother and wants to attack because she thinks you'll judge her. Etc. So as a way to defend themselves and to show that they don’t care they might behave meanly.

Depends on the type and how they are being mean. Sometimes you have to be "cruel to be kind".

It's because usually that's how they are. Or they're putting up a front, so people won't see who they really are. I think....
