Sweets for My Sweet" is a 1963 song by Merseybeat band The Searchers. and maybe Johnny Preston's RUNNING BEAR - 17/03/1960 2 weeks at #1 - 16 weeks on chart

On the bank of the river
Stood Runnin' Bear, young Indian brave
On the other side of the river
Stood his lovely Indian maid
Little White Dove was-a her name
Such a lovely sight to see
But their tribes fought with each other
So their love could never be

Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die

He couldn't swim the raging river
'cause the river was too wide
He couldn't reach Little White Dove
Waiting on the other side
In the moonlight he could see her
Throwing kisses 'cross the waves
Her little heart was beating faster
Waiting there for her brave

Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die

Runnin' Bear dove in the water
Little White Dove did the same
And they swam out to each other
Through the swirling stream they came
As their hands touched and their lips met
The ragin' river pulled them down
Now they'll always be together
In that happy hunting ground

Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Runnin' Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die

The searchers is the first one and the second one sounds like Running bear, sung by Johhny Preston in 1959.
Running Bear tells the story of Running Bear, a "young indian brave," and Little White Dove, an "indian maid."

Running Bear and Little White Dove are separated by their tribes hatred of each other and according to the lyrics, "their tribes fought with each other. So their love could never be."

Running Bear and Little White Dove are also separated by a raging river. In the end, they dive into the raging river for one last kiss. Then "the raging river pulled them down. Now they'll always be together. In their happy hunting ground."

hello! I enclose what I found this song:
This song was written by Mort Shuman and was originally recorded by The Drifters in 1961. The Searchers' version, which was produced by Tony Hatch, climbed to the top of the UK charts following an appearance on the Merseybeat edition of the TV show Thank Your Lucky Stars
This song was later recorded by Tina Charles and CJ Lewis, who both also had UK hits with it
I hope it helps!
