I'm curious if anyone has ever run into this. And, even if you haven't please let me know what you do--I feel like I'm being scammed!

I bought a router on ebay, for 39.99. It was a great deal because it was free shipping..

Now, when I go to pay, I have to pay an extra 8 dollars for shipping! I e-mailed the seller in regards to this issue, asking if I'd be refunded, because it is advertised as free, but I've yet to hear back from him.

I know it's technically my fault, because I should have read everything in regards to the auction (it does say "pay $8.95 for s+h" but it also says, front and center, "free shipping")

What would you do??

TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE PAGE, IT SAYS::
***********
GearXS Part #: WPN824
Condition: Refurbished (Condition Details)
Packaging: Plain Box (Packaging Details)
Shipping Cost: $8.99
***********
BENEATH THAT, IT READS:

They can't get you for handling, either- it is advertised like this:

Ships to
Worldwide

Country:
Shipping and HandlingEach Additional ItemTo Service
Free Free
United States
Standard Flat Rate Shipping Service

Country: Quantity:
Shipping and HandlingEach Additional ItemToService
FREE Free United StatesStandard Flat Rate Shipping Service

Well, that didn't copy & paste so well but it says "Shipping and Handling" and then underneath it says FREE in all capitals! I'd call their 800 number and ask what's up!

It also says shipping insurance is free! Read the ad before you answer, people!

You didn't mention where you live, which does make a difference in whether you get charged s/h or not. The seller states in the product description "We offer shipping to all 48 continuous United States .For Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico please contact GearXS.com before you commit Buy It Now" and that "FREE SHIPPING offers are only available to destinations in the continental US".

If you don't meet their requirements, they can legally charge you.

OTHERWISE, it sounds like you may have clicked on a link in an email sent to you to pay them through their auction management company ChannelAdvisor. I'm always wary of paying thru AM services, so I always go thru ebay directly. So try clicking on the Pay Now link right from ebay's invoice page and the payment page should show free shipping. Good Luck!

I would just pay the $8 - they could argue it's for handling, not shipping. Therefore, if you don't pay - you'll be the one getting reported on Ebay, not the seller. In the future, make sure you read everything before you bid.

Contact ebay about your issue. If they state free shipping they have to honor it.

You can't do anything. They covered their butts by charging you for the handling. The shipping is still free, though.
