They are not so stupid as to do that, they know that they would be handing the Repubs 2008 on a silver platter.

The House has passed funding bills for the war in Iraq that require drawing down the troop level or complete withdrawal but the Senate has been unable to muster the 60 votes required to pass their version.

They won't do it because it would be political suicide. They know how badly it would go for them.

The sad truth for the Democrats is that the country is to the right of their party. They need to win Republicans over to their side to win the 2008 elections, pulling out the money from the troops they sent to Iraq won't do that for them.

Probably because Bush will seize all their assets because he just overturned the 5th amendment all by himself.

On the other hand, they simply don't have the votes. They could cut off funding but the votes aren't there to do the right thing like this.

They won't do it.They are intelligent enough to know we cannot leave. They are politically savvy enough to know they must state that is their intention to get the votes from the mostly young, ignorant fools who jump on the "bring the troops home"bandwagon, knowing nothing of history, consequences,or reality. The libs are being duped by their own party.Love it.You REALLY think they will pull the troops out? They aren't stupid, just the fools that will vote for that nonsense are

I think the Congress is more interested in bringing the troops home, not putting them in a position where they don't have what they need to protect themselves

How would you feel if some one you knew or loved was killed because they ran out of ammunition during a skirmish?

wake up and smell the roses what funds could they cut? look what would happen to them if they cut funds to the troops they would be voted out of office so fast . and alot of backlash from the american people who care about the fighting troops in harms way, ther are a few americans who couldnt care less about the troops as long as they dont have to do the fighting

How many times have they tried and failed ? It is because they know that leaving Iraq when it is unstable is not the correct choice, regardless of how some feel out now and lose is the only way to go.

The Dems might try to cut funding if it looks like were going to win. They need defeat to win the elections in '08.

it would be political suicide...while people want the war to end, they do not want it to end with our soldiers in a country without the supplies they need. the Congress on both sides needs to come up with a plan for a phased withdrawal to limit the bloodshed.
