No one would be forced to vote. But maybe they would have greater opportunity to vote. Perhaps a longer period of time. Or maybe internet voting, or some other things that make it easy and convenient.

Its sad that generally less than half of all Americans vote. Poor people rarely vote.

How can we get more people to vote?

If people are to lazy to vote between 6am and 9pm or go to a polling place then I would probably prefer they not vote.

Apathy is a hard thing to change. Americans take for granted their right to vote. The Internet voting idea would have too many ways to have fraud be a issue. I would favor a Saturday Sunday vote block of time though. Instead of being the first Tuesday in November, have the voting be on the first weekend in November. Just a thought.

But that's not easy. More you try doing things to get people to vote more room for loopholes and frauds you (might) create. Considering election is run with volunteer work force it's tricky to think of good ways to get people to vote. People always argue about things like photo ID requirements and other things that make things more difficult for poor people to vote.

Offering incentives is also tricky thing. If one is offered some financial reward(money, tax credit?) for voting there will be increased number of cheats who try to get that reward by cheating.

I think simplest answer to getting more people to vote is just recruit more election workers and make more voting booths. Anything more complicated than that might create more room for cheats and scheme.

I do not think more people should vote unless they do the necessary research and and take the time to keep up with current events. The last thing we need is more uninformed voters. At this time I would like to see much less voting.

I think that anything that makes it more likely that people vote, the better. Why the heck it is has to be on a tuesday is beyond me. How about noon Saturday until noon Sunday. Have polls open all night long.

I think that voting should take place on a Saturday when most people are home from work. :)

They don't vote because they don't want to. We already bend over backwards making sure the process is accessible to everyone.

we have enough liberals who vote for lunacy like cut and run and tax and spend schemes...why would you want more uninformed voters.
