In other words, what was it called when it's one political party as oppsed to 2. I knew the term for it, but now i am drawing a blank, and it's getting on my nerves. Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Partisan which is basically what is going on now where there are no compromises between the parties and their is so much hate speech on issues.

Or coalitional -- many parties.

Or non-partisan -- no parties.

the usual way people talk about it is either polar politics, party-line politics, or partisan.g
