First, it is PHYSICALLY impossible to be arrested over the Internet. It is possible to be arrested for making treats over the Internet. It is unlikely an law enforcement would bother hunting you down for any comments no considered a direct threat to someone.

it is doubtful that the story is true. Many people speak their mind on the internet all the time. Laws do vary by state, but I know of no such law.
If the comments were directed at a specific person and contained threats then it could be a criminal offense.

I don't know, but I hope that OTHER kinds of remarks would get people arrested. I flagged someone whose answer said they had committed a violent crime.
And why do you think racist comments should be a crime? Don't you believe in free speech?

Yes! But the yahoo jury just sent me to the law enforcement section for 14 days. Now I can only answer questions here, before I can go back to "rob and mug advice".

Even though we have freedom of speech; it's a good idea to try to not offend others. Sometimes it's hard not too.
But, getting arrested is extreme.
