A lot fewer than most people realize. For a short period of time recently, State Farm Insurance required proof of the endorsement. This however cost them a lot of money to implement and continue the program. They dropped the program based upon the belief that an insurance company should not police/enforce drivers license endorsements, rather the agency issuing dl's should. My belief is that a rider needs the "know how"and experience to ride a motorcycle under a variety of conditions prior to being let loose on the public roads. This can be done in a variety of ways without using public roads. Once they gain the experience to handle a machine they should be confident enough to show their skills and be tested while doing it. Keep in mind that state tests are for MINIMAL skills, just enough for a potential rider to get the M endorsement.

I've had mine for 6 years. I'm a terrible passenger on the back of a bike; I prefer to ride my own.
