Since I work with a lot of dangerous chemicals, I've been warned against breastfeeding when I return to work after delivering. I'm only 4 months pregnant and my breasts have already increased enormously in size and have gotten to be cumbersome and uncomfortable. Will they stay this way if I don't breastfeed? Also, will I at least be able to avoid sagging breasts if I don't breastfeed?

The truth is your breasts will become larger when you have a baby. During your pregnancy your breasts become large because they are preparing for lactation. Your body doesn't know if you are going to breast feed or not but in the meantime it is still going to prepare for lactation. Sagging breasts are part of after pregnancy regardless if you breast feed or not. It is a myth that breast feeding cause sagging breasts. The truth is pregnancy causes saggy breasts. True your breast will sag a little bit but the best way to get rid of them is through plastic surgery. Pregnancy does wonders to your body. Your body will never be the same after a pregnancy. My sister in law refused to breast feed because she thought it will ruin her breasts. Well her boobs still got saggy anyways. I went up a cup size and my boobs drooped a bit because they are bigger now and I did breast feed. The stars look great after having a baby, but do we really know what is going on after they have the baby?

Your breast size and growth during pregnancy are not an indication of whether or not you'll be able to breastfeed. It's very rare for a woman to be completely physically unable to breastfeed. You still have some time left for your breasts to grow, anyway, and they could grow even more still *after* the baby is born, when your milk comes in. Even if they don't get huge, though, that doesn't mean you won't be able to breastfeed.

I worked with a lot of dangerous chemicals and I breastfeed. If the chemicals are so dangerous that you can not breast feed when around them, you shouldn't be around them while your pregnant!
If you are able to be around them while pregnant you should have no problems breast feeding, unless you're physically drinking the chemicals.
However, your breasts are slightly larger now due to hormones, when you have your baby they will go back to normal, unless you choose to nurse. You should be thinking about stretch marks, if they are that much larger. Make sure you lather yourself up good with cocca butter lotion!

Breastfeeding or not, doesn't effect the final look or shape of your breasts.

Look at your mother to get some idea, and aunts aswell.

There is a comon myth, people think if they don't feed there breast will stay in shape and firm, wrong.

The size will also go down with time...sadly.

They will become engorged right after you stop but they will go back down. I would encourage you to breastfeed until you go back to work. Both you and your baby will get all the benefits of breastfeeding.

I agree with answer #1. I also doubt that the chemicals you work with would affect your breastmilk. You should look into it, breastfeeding is the best gift you can give your child. You might try calling La Leche League, they would probably be able to tell you if the chemicals are a problem.

Breast feeding or not has nothing to do with sagging breasts. Thats up to gravity and genes.

You will be engorged for a while after birth, but they will go back down.

you should atleast breast feed until you go back to work. its just so much better for you and baby both.

The opposite is true. If you breast feed you are more likely to have your breasts stay larger. I am very flat chested, went up to a D cup during my pregnancy and within a month after the birth I was smaller than I had been before the pregnancy. (My child was formula fed) Sagging comes from the baby nursing on them. It won't happen if you don't breastfeed.
