Gomez- He had exactly half the points crosby had last year and only 1.7 mil less a year.
Nash- Just plain sucks. Plus hes fat
Souray- Will go down as the best -30 defensman a year ever.
Anson Carter- The Sedins made him
Brian mccabe- He's so overpaid
Darcy Tucker- Wow you can sit in the slot on the powerplay.
Chris Drury- Yes he's cluth but cmmon hes enver even gotten 70 points.

Sean Avery.
To the Caseman: McCabe has been 'nominated' for the Norris Trophy 7 times. Most NHL trophies have no 'nominations'.......they are voted on by various groups. The NHL Awards only show the top three votegetters. If you read the paper the next day, you will usually see the results of the votes. McCabe has received votes in 7 different years.

Gomez! He scores 60 points and NYR decides to hand him like 7 mil a year! I couldn't believe that signing!
Those who say crosby is overated- Remember back then in Gretzkys time he could skate down the whole ice and score. The pads were smaller and the players surrounding Gretzky were awesome too. The NHL wasn't as competitive as it was today. Crosby in his prime would kill Gretzky in his prime. Imagine if Crosby was playing in the Gretzky era..Crosby would dominate because the players now are more competitive and athletic. Hockey scores now are 4-3 and crosby gets 2 or 3 points out of 4 goals. Scores back then were 9-7 and Gretzky would get 5 or 4 points out of 9 goals. Bottom line, Crosby is not overated!

for the amount of money that they make the award has to go to gomez...60 points last year with NJ (sure it's more of a defensive system, but someone got to score) and now he's making a top loaded contract that pays upwards of 10 mil for this year (avg. of 7)...definately not worth that type of money. Good player, not 7+ mil great. The only reason he gets that money is cause of the lack of high end talent in this UFA season.

i would have to go with what cyrenaica said on Penner and Vanek, Lowe put a big blow on the game this off season, by offering players like Penner and Vanek this ridiculous contracts and for the next 5 years you will see players make millions and still haven't proved them self's as a true NHL stars.
owners have been complaining for years that players have been making to much money so the salary cap was introduce 3 years ago and now where back in the same boat with the players getting the money they want even when they still haven't reach their prime like Penner over $4 Million for the next 5 years and Vanek $50 Million for the next 7 years. the owners are screwing with the system once again.

By far, the most overrated player in the NHL is Darcy Tucker. The hockey press (especially some outlets in Toronto) hail him as the second coming of Doug Gilmour, Borje Salming, Darryl Sittler, and George Armstrong rolled up into one "awesome" package. This isn't a bash on Toronto media at all (or a generaliztion by any means), of course, but they gush about Tucker as if he's Mark Messier.

Penner probably, because he hasnt exactly had a chance to prove himself and hes already got a multi-million contract. But Im also thinking that as far as injuries go... maybe Forsberg because he spends a lot of time on the IR in more recent years. When he's healthy, he's amazing though.

From a Kevin Lowe perspective.............Thomas Vanek and Dustin Penner
Personally, I think Jordan Staal is the most overrated player in the game today.
