No, it doesn't. People refer to them as passionate fruits because of the island and places they are grown.

No. It is the fruit of the Passion Flower, so called for Christ's Passion on the Cross.
The Passion Flower symbolism, as originally perceived, and
then augmented, includes:
The spiraled tendrils - the lash of Christ's scourging
The central flower column - the pillar of the Scourging
The 72 radial filaments - the Crown of Thorns
The top 3 stigma - the 3 Nails
The lower 5 anthers - the 5 wounds
The Style - the Sponge used to moisten
Christ's Lips with Vinegar
The leaves (some species) - the head of the Centurion's Spear
The red stains - Christ's Blood Drops
The Round Fruit - The World Christ came to save
The Fragrance - The Spices prepared by the Holy
Women
You may believe what you like, of course. That is why the plant is named the way it is. 'Passion' means any emotion taken to an extreme ... so it can apply to anger as much as love. You have heard, no doubt, of something done in a fit of passion (anger) and that some people are 'passionate about football' ... don't think that because a word can mean one thing it cannot also mean lots of other things!
I do have to say that Passion Fruit juice is very delicious and ever so slightly, how shall I say, slippery ... not unlike the feel of another juice :)) It could be considered an aphrodisiac if used in the right way! (I promise you that the above is the real explanation for the name, however!)

Early European explorers gave the plant its common name because the flower's complex structure and pattern reminded them of symbols associated with the passion of Christ. It was said that the flower contained the lashes received by Christ, the crown of thorns, the column, the five wounds and the three nails.[4]

Painting is my passion. I LOVE IT. Nature's beauty inspires me to paint. Whenever I paint a scenery, I try to show everyone this beauty, and not my skills. It's like therapy too for me...well along with meditation music in the background. :)
