For this I got 5, however, the answer sheet says a different answer. I am a bit confused, can someone see if they get 5 as well? Also, for this problem: (8 - 7)×6 - 10/5 + 4 my answer is 0, yet the answer sheet says different. If anyone knows the answer, could they please explain, because I am lost then.

(1 + 2×3) - 7/(4 - 3) + 2
Remeber PEMDAS. Paranthesis first..
For the first part: (1+2×3).. multiplcation first. so
(1+6) = 7
(Original equation becomes...
7 - 7/(4-3) + 2 .... now again, paranthesis first..
The denominator of 7/(4-3)..
(4-3) = 1.. so 7/1 = 7
Original equation becomes...
7 - 7 + 2
7 - 7 = 0
so 0 + 2
= 2 (which is the answer)
Now for: (8 - 7)×6 - 10/5 + 4
Paranthesis first again...
(8-7) = 1
Original equation becomes
1 * 6 - 10/5 + 4
PEMDAS again.. From left to right, Multiplcation comes first.
1 * 6 = 6
Original equation becomes
6 - (10/5) + 4
Now.. this is where it gets a little tricky, you need to find a common denominator, because you are subtracting fractions/ Even tho 6 and 4 look like whole numbers.. they are a fraction.. they are really over the number 1
6/1 = 6, and 4/1 = 4 (6/1 and 4/1 is the fraction equivalent of 6 and 4)
Original equation becomes:
6/1 - (10/5) + 4/1 .... you are going to need a common denominator. which is going to be 5. because you can easily turn the 1's on the bottom of 6 and 4 into '5' by multiplying by 5.
You dont do anything to the 10/5 because the denominator is already 5.
((6/1) * (5/5)) - (10/5) +((4/1)*(5/5))
Equation now becomes
30/5 - 10/5 + 20/5
now that the denominators match.. you can add like normal.
(30 - 10 + 20)/5
(20 + 20)/5
40/5 = 8
So your answer is 8.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Problem One
First you need to figure out what's in the parentheses, so 2 x 3 is 6, plus one is seven.
Now you have 7 - 7/(4-3) + 2
4-3 is one, and 1+2 is 3, so now you will have
7 - 7/3
Now you can either convert 7/3 to a mixed number, or 7 to an improper fraction in order to subtract.
Mixed number:
7/3= 2 1/3
7-2 1/3= 4 2/3
Improper fraction:
7= 21/3
21/3 - 7/3 = 14/3
Problem Two
It's the same thing with this one. Work the parentheses first, so you will end up with:
(1) x 6 - 10/5 + 4
1 x 6 is 6, so you can take out the one, leaving you with:
6 -10/5 + 4
10/5 is 2, so now you have
6-2 + 4
6-2 is 4, plus 4 is 8.

You probably did something in the wrong order. Here's the correct one:
(1 + 2*3) - 7/(4-3) + 2 = (1 + 6) - 7/1 + 2 = 7 - 7 + 2 = 2
(8 - 7)*6 - 10/5 + 4 = 1*6 - 2 + 4 = 6 - 2 + 4 [different than 6 - (2+4), which really would've given the result 0] = 4 + 4 = 8
Proper order of algebraical operations:
1. brackets (always done first)
2. multiplication, division (when there are no more brackets)
3. addition, substraction (always done last, except when in brackets)

Order of Operations:
Parenthases
Exponents
Multiply
Division
Addition
Subtraction
So we go the following steps:
(1 + 2×3) - 7/(4 - 3) + 2
(1 + 6) - 7/1 + 2
(7) - 7 + 2
0 + 2
2
Second problem:
(8 - 7)×6 - 10/5 + 4
(1)x6 - 2 + 4
6 - 2 + 4
4 + 4
8
Make sure you do things in the propper order and you will always come out correct.

For these types of problems just remember exponents, parenthesis and multiplacation and division come before addition and subtraction.
