I dont get it, how can you hate something so much yet you never actually given it a listen? I know people try saying rockers look retarded jumping around hitting eachother in a mosh pit, but does that look any stupider then rappers gigging every time they hear a Mac Dre song or when they hold side shows? Or when rappers sing about nothing but sex and drugs and money, people seem to forgotten that most every hair metal band in the 80s sung about the same thing. I can go from listening to As I Lay Dying, get bored of that then put in Bone Thugs. In the end good music is good music

The two forms of music grew out of totally different cultures. To adherents of both types of music, the other form is just so much "noise" to ears tuned to the particular musical forms that they grew up with.

Its not different, as expressed above, to the way classical music buffs cannot hack rock'n'roll, rock fans will not sit in the same room with anyone playing show tunes, metal fans would rather die than listen to disco, and on and on.

I'm A rap music fan and despise rock... but I love listening to shredding on electric guitar that would go with the rock music people to.

If listening to something leaves you hating something else, it`s no good for you, for the most part. I say for the most part, because hate is an emotion which is better than despair, depression, and powerlessness, for example, in which case if the music lifts you out of those states, especially if it is chronic, it is good for you. I would not choose to stay there with hate coursing through my body for very long because that can also lead to disease, physical or mental.

Rock and rap are two completely opposite sides of the modern day music spectrum so you can't expect everyone to like them both. That's like saying everyone who likes Bachs Violin Concerto in E major has to like Mozarts Die Entfuhrung Aus Dem Serail because they're both "good music" but of course they don't because they are two opposite sides of the classical music spectrum.

You say "good music is good music" but that's completely wrong. Good music is subjective; it is whatever the listener enjoys.

I'm a rocker (I guess) and I don't listen to music just about sex, drugs and rock and roll...though, most of the rock that I listen to came out in the 60s and 70s. My tastes vary...I listen to everybody from Ravi Shankar to Bob Dylan to Pink Floyd to Billie Holiday to Waylon Jennings. But, no rap.

And, trust me when I say that I've given rap a listen. When I was in middle school, I listened to a lot of rap (sadly). I grew up though, and my tastes in music grew up as well....I just got tired of them talking about the same ole thing over and over again.

probably because they thinnk that their music is better so they don't even want to give the other one a try.
which i find is really sad because music is supposed to bring people together.
