One of my nieces is 4 months old, and I havent been able to see her very often but when I do she is very friendly, smiles a lot, etc. My other niece is 8 months old and cries whenever I hold her ='(. Everyone says she is shy with me because she's older and doesnt know me as well, but with my boyfriend who sees her just as often, she is fine. Another theory is my boyfriend is softer and Im just bony, haha. When my boyfriend is holding her Im able to kiss her cheeks and give her all the love I want. Is it possible for babies to be shy? Or does she just not like me yet? Or maybe Im bony? haha this is kind of a funny question, I just dont want her to cry around me anymore

8 month olds tend to go through anxiety when someone they are not used to everyday comes around... as for why she likes your boyfriend... I dont know. I have an 8 month old who cries at almost everyone who she doesnt see everyday except my husbands friend. 4 month olds dont really have anxiety yet. It usually hits at 5 months or older. My daughter loved everyone before she hit 5 months old. It's a phase and the baby will grow out of it at around 2 years old. Yes, its a long time...but, dont take her anxiety personally.

it doesn't mean she will grow up shy either. In a couple more months, that 4 month old will start doing the same thing most likely. Its quite normal.

It's normal for babies this age to have a fear of strangers. Just hang around her more....she'll eventually get used to you. Not saying she'll like you lol....but she'll get used to you. Once she's older she will have a better memory and the length between your visits wont make her totally forget you. Give it time. Good Luck Some babies just like Men more than women. That happens a lot too. It's not anything you are personally doing

8 months is about the age they start to realize that people are different and begin crying for their parents. If her parents aren't very bony, your boyfriend's body type might remind her of her own mother or father. It'll pass in a few months. :)

Older babies tend to prefer people they know. Its likely that she feels safer around men and deep voices, a lot of babies can also prefer one sex over the other.

My son is scared to death of old ladies, but men of any age are acceptable to him. go figure.

Just give her time, and spend as much time with her as you can. She will warm up to you soon.

Your taking something personal that has nothing to do with you. The baby may just feel your unease & react feeling it may be unsafe. Relax - children do this...it actually has nothing really to do with you. Enjoy her now before she starts running away & decides she wants independance! LOL :0)
