Dont give a baby anything that early in life besides Breastmilk or if its formila fed. I just think its insane to give a baby sugar in any form.

Warm baths will help relax the muscles. Breastfed babies can go over a week w/o going #2. It is digested so quickly.

You can try gas drops as well. They worked wonders in our house with a gassy baby.

You can also try cycling the legs to get things moving. If its gas, cycling will help the baby fart.

But all in all warm baths will be the best bet.

here is a link on poop if your child is breastfed....http://www.justmommies.com/articles/baby-poop.shtml

My first child was exclusively breast fed as a baby and would go three or sometimes 4 days without a bowel movement--just to debunk that theory. Everyone is different.

Talk to your pediatrician before trying anything because it's important your baby's doctor knows what's going on with his or her patient. My son's doctor suggested buying the over the counter suppositories and slicing them in half longways and inserting that in the baby's rectum. Not as appealing as some of these other suggestions you've gotten, lol, but it did work. And Never do it too often, any of the treatments you choose. If you baby is uncomfortable and seems constipated try rubbing her lower belly just to get things moving. Many baby books have tips on the right motions to use.

Breastfed babies don't get constipated so I guessing your doing the bottles. So, I would talk to you Dr. or Pharmacist about more natural remedies. Constipation is a huge problem with formula fed babies because it's not really compatible. If you are somewhat breastfeeding or still lactating you can go back to full breastfeeding & it would clear it up providing there isn't a serious medical condition. In addition try baby masage techniques where you use the whole hand to apply soft pressure moving down the chest & tummy to help things along.

PS Please don't give her any sugar water

this could be quite normal - it's not the frequency of her movements that's a problem but the consistency when they do arrive.

If they are like rabbit droppings - small and like pebbles, then she's constipated.

if she seems to be in pain and srtuggling to pass movements, then cycling her legs about while she's laying down (obviously) can help, as can gentle tummy massage in a clockwise direction. If she's formula fed, a little sugar in cooled boiled water can relieve constipation but get medical advise first. If she's breastfed, there really isn't a problem and this is quite normal

1) hard, very dry pellots- when ur baby has one
2) they may cause bleeding
3) if ur baby is constipated- they may hold back a couple days in fear it may happen again

Is she breastfed? Boobie babies only poop every 3-5 days as newborns. Its perfectly normal.

Formula babies should poop once a day. Two days without a movement isnt cause for super alarm, but an ounce or two of water or diluted apple juice can do the trick.

If she is nursed, then it's fine. There really arent any impurities in breastmilk so they only need to have a real BM every few days. The yellow gooey stuff isn't a real BM although most of us refer to as a BM. If the baby is formula fed, then he/she should have a BM everyday, and you need to call your doctor.

When my daughter had the same problem the doctor told me to add a tiny bit of dark caro syrup to her bottle. After doing that for a few bottles, she's never been constipated again.

My one month old daughters doctor said to put a teaspoon of dark karo sryup in every other bottle. It works for her. I just don't know how long the doctor wants to do this. She goes for her next check up next week.
