When your PC first starts to boot (right after you turn it on), press the DELETE key (some computers are F2, and a few may also use other keys).
You will then enter your BIOS setup. Arrow over to the "Boot" menu and then go into Boot Device Priority. Move you Disc Drive to the top of the list (1st boot position).
Hit F10 to Save changes and exit...you pc will then reboot. With the cd in, the computer will boot from the cd.

Check the screen during boot up for the quick key that takes you to the bios (usually one of the F keys on top of the keyboard) You will find one of the bios pages will allow you to edit the boot sequence. If your computer is old, you may not have this option. If so, go to the manufacturer page for your motherboard and get the latest bios.
Also, most windows restore Cd's can be launched in Windows and will reboot the computer and boot from the CD all on it's own.
Booting from the CD is good if your Windows install is totally hosed.

hold down the del or sometimes F5 or F8 key usually to go to the setup menu ther you will find a section that sets the boot order
change so Cd is first
reboot with Cd in and it should boot from the disc
some PCs have a part that says accept changes where you have to change to YES but this is rare
some times you will need to re enter setup menu and change back after your reinstall to boot from your hard drive but most will do automatically

During startup, tap the F1 or Delete key to get into the BIOS setup. You should see a section that indicates BOOT ORDER. Just set the CD device higher than your Hard drive.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

your pc should auto boot providing it's new enough and its a genuine disc.
failing that go into the bios.. and it's an option in there. normally DEL on boot up.. you'll see what key to press when the pc is booting onscreen..
OR use one of these, if u have a floppy disc.. boot off that..
http://www.bootdisk.com/
then just run

Put the CD into the drive then start the computer. Be careful, you will lose all of your files. It may be safer to back them up first, but an electrical store can do that or if you have an external hard drive, use that.

Turn it on, press 'del' or F2 (usually) and enter the setup pages.
Look for 'boot order' and change it to CD first.
You'll need to use the keys for moving around the menus as most bios setups don't support mice.
