if i had sex on aug. 1, and my period was due aug. 3 (28 day cycle) but im usually a few days to a week late for my period, does this make my chance of pregnancy high, or low?

Okay honey, this is the deal. If your periods are regular, that is if you can be fairly sure when you are going to start, then NO, you are not pregnant. In other words the chance of your being pregnant is very low.
However, if your periods are irregular and you have little or no idea when they are going to start, then your guess is as good as mine. I don't know how old you are, if you are a teenager it is more likely that you could have gotten pregnant because teenagers ovulate irregularly.
If you are on older woman, perhaps 19 or 20 then your hormone production is more stable and I would say that you have nothing to worry about.
You will ovulate half way before the last period that you had and the one that you are expecting. If that time is regular and is the same all the time, then you know when you ovulate. You do NOT ovulate two days before your period is due. I would say that you can relax, your period will start.
All things being equal I would say that your chance of being pregnant is almost nonexistant.

if youre due on the 3rd, and you had sex the 1st, chances are you were ovulating at least one week before that...so id say not too high, but of course you might not have a normal cycle (since youre usually a week late...) it seems youll just have to wait and see

You do understand that sex is the leading cause of pregnancy... if you don't want to get pregnant, I suggest you don't have sex. Or, take some precautions.
Everyone's body is different, but I would gather your chances are high. When in doubt, pee on a stick.

The best time to get pregnant is 14 days before your period. That's usually when ovulation occurs...but not always.

Hey actually I am in a similair situation....I had a baby 6 mths ago tho...and I may be again-it could be stress-it could be that you are pregnant..but then again...it takes 2 weeks to fertalize an egg..so you should wait and find out next mth....its too soon hun...well I hope it works out for u.....
