My friend is going thru the same thing at 8 weeks. They told her it could be one of two things...
1. Twins or more (she was on fertility treatments so that is more likely)
2. her hormones will level out later on but other than that she is okay.
She finds out soon when they do a sonogram on her to determine how many she has.

i agree with everyone, it could be she is further along than thought or it could be twins. personally I HAD TWINS. my numbers were off the chart (dont remember the exact numbers). my HPT practically glowed in 2 minutes , we didnt have to wait the 10 minutes or what ever it is. I was sent for an ultrasound at 8 weeks due to having miscarried the year before and they FOUND TWINS. we were on NO fertility drugs and had no "outside" help, they were/are NOWHERE in our families and it was just a WONDERFUL surprise. I would speak to the dr and see if an ultrasound is warranted. There are certain things to watch for when carrying multiples and the sooner they know for sure the better care you will be able to receive. Good luck and congrats

145,000 looks like what you meant to type. That is quite high. Usually at 6 weeks your levels are around 9-10k. That number doubles every so often, so it quickly adds up to hundreds of thousands.
Its possible she has twins, but it could also mean she's farther along than expected, or her body makes a lot of hormones.

that's on the severe end of the size, yet no longer abnormally severe. The "standard" hcg point for between 7 and eight weeks is between 7,650 and 229,000. those numbers sound great! I too had very severe numbers like your spouse and that i'm now 14 weeks pregnant (3 months) and my infant has a stable heartbeat and is doing great! Congratulations!

Normal range for that stage of pregnancy:
7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
She's in the normal range. hCG Levels double every couple of days early in the pregnancy.

They are a little high but she could be farther along then you think. I wouldn't worry about having twins until you have a ultrasound. That will be able to tell you for sure. And if you are really worried about ask the Dr. to do one soon. S/he might be willing to do one just to ease your mind.

they are high, but you could have mistaken the date of concetion or you could have 2+ babies in there. Her dr can do an ultrasound to find out for sure, so ask for it at the next appt.
