I rewalize I need HD, but I was merely wondering about the monitor before I buy a card. I built my computer, but did not add a TV card at the time.

you just need one with 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 (official 1080p resolution) resolution. i think i've seen 22inch lcd monitors with that resolution, but nothing smaller. some 22 or 24 inch screens dont support that, so make sure to check to see if it can display at that resolution.

Any size is OK but for the best, larger is better. However, even though a 22" monitor is a good size for watching films on, HD films will only be as good as a standard analogue monitor can show. To get the best, you have to have a HD Monitor / TV and at the moment there are not many HD monitors available and they are expensive. To show a comparison, you cannot expect a black and white film to be in colour on a colour TV, the same applies with HD. You can't see the film in High Definition unless the monitor / TV is also High Definition.

I think it would have more to do with having some type of HD out on your video card than the size of your monitor. You probably need some type of HDMI output on your video card.

well all computer monitors can display at least 720p. u need a hdcp graphics card to watch either blue-ray, or hd-dvd disc on ur computer, as well as a hd-dvd or blue-ray drive. u can watch hd programing on it like hd trailers online, w/o needing a hdcp graphics card.
