name change. Is this correct? I have the form to change address for the IRS but do I need to contact them?

With the IRS, your SS# is linked with your name. No need to notify them. The problems arise when you file taxes under your new name and your SS# is still in your former name.

As you change your name on your SS#. The IRS has that information. I'm really not what else to tell you. You giving the IRS change address forms. So you should alright. I hope this helps.

The social security office will notify the IRS.

You need to find the nearest office and go down there.
I can't remember if there is a form to fill out but they will have it at the office. You can call them ahead of time to find out information over the phone.

its always best to inform the IRS about any name change instead of letting them find out the hard way. Dont ever want to get on the bad side of the IRS

If you are employed you need to change your name on your w4 with your employer.
