i do believe it.. Bush wanted to be the big cheese.. the head guy.. you know.. the decider.. and besides that, he doesn't want anyone looking too hard at what he does.. and how badly he was bungling things.
He refused help thro his childish arrogance and people suffered for it.. they are still suffering...but he has forgotten them.. they are of no value to them..

No. And according to msnbc the US did accept assistance.

WASHINGTON - In a dramatic turnabout, the United States is now on the receiving end of help from around the world as some two dozen countries offer post-hurricane assistance.
Venezuela, a target of frequent criticism by the Bush administration, offered humanitarian aid and fuel. Venezuela’s Citgo Petroleum Corp. pledged a $1 million donation for hurricane aid.
With offers from the four corners of the globe pouring in, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has decided “no offer that can help alleviate the suffering of the people in the afflicted area will be refused,” State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Thursday.

Ive been waiting.
Sweetpea why do you people always fall back on the insults? I suppose you prefer New Orleans and its people to suffer rather than accept aid of any sort?
ingsoc, How about Cuba? They are very close and offered to send Doctors and aid. And are you serious when you say that other than evacuation we New Orleans needs no other help? It STILL hasnt been rebuilt completely and its people are still scattered all over. Did you know that even in a country like Iran they do a better job. They had an entire city destroyed by a massive earthquake and have already rebuilt it.

Why should other countries have their relief effort gifts to Katrina be embezzled too by the local and state goverments in that state? Oh by the way, you say peace and revolution in the same space. Which is it cause you can't have both!

do you think the aid from Estonia would have got to new Orleans faster than it would have arrived from here? Really the biggest problem in New Orleans was evacuating the people not providing for them once they were out.

What do we need help for? I know you Socialists need help for most things, but I think we can handle this on our own. I look forward to the revolution, bring it on.

It's very sad!!! I never thought I would see the day that our own country administrators would not consider it's own people a priority.
