Good statement. Omar will have played in the most games at shortstop in history. He will have at least 11 gold gloves. His batting average & fielding percentages are nearly the equal of Ozzie Smith so he is a shoo in Hall of Famer.

Omar definitely should go into the HOF. He gets no respect though. I think he is the best defensive SS tied with Ozzie. He is like a wizard out there with the glove. He doesn't use the glove half the time. I think I remember him saying that when he was growing up playing baseball, he couldn't afford a glove so he just used his hands. Omar is a class act. He is a great player and a great person. Omar is not a homerun hitter like the shortstops of his time, but he is a good hitter .275 for his career. He would have been in more All-star games if he were in the NL earlier in his career. I hope he gets in.

He's an interesting case. Vizquel obviously has been a great defensive shortstop for a long, long time. However, Hall of Fame voters usually look for offensive numbers. Bill Mazeroski made it, but that has taken a lot of heat because his bat wasn't that strong -- even though he was the best defensive second baseman of his era or perhaps any era.
I think Vizquel gets in eventually, but it's no slam dunk.

Your right Vizquel probably will go into the Hall. He's awesome defensively and has been very consistent his whole career. I'm not sure about top 5 in all of history but Vizquel is definitley near the top of the list.

i think of of he made his mark with the Indians, so my opinion is that an Indians cap could be optimum installation. Even via way of actuality Boggs went in with a Tampa Bay hat, inspite of the reality that, all bets are off. My massive question, as properly the reality that, would be whilst Omar is going in, will they have a sprint statue of Jose Mesa throwing at his plaque. He might make the HOF, but he's not a good enough hitter to be one of the top 5 shortstops ever.

Probably the best defensive SS of all time. Best fielding % 2nd in gold gloves. He has the most hits by a SS ever(while playing just SS). Jeter will probably pass him but he has the record for a while longer. I remember when he was in Cleveland. He has less errors in his career than Jeter and has played 6 full seasons longer. Solid offensivley. Fast. One of the greatest SS ever.

I would say he should I remember when he was in Cleveland that he never got any publicity, and evey year they were just shocked when they saw how good he was at the All-Star game.
I can't remember, but I think he has won at least 12 gold gloves.
He used to catch them behind his back, and now he is still making amazing slides, he is a great player and should be in the hall of fame.

Not sure about top 5, but will be in the Hall.
Ripken, Ozzie, Banks, Jeter, Honus Wagner. Not sure where he would fit in this group.

Hell yeah... a defensive genius. I loved watching him play when he was with the Indians and I don't even watch baseball regularly. He and Sandy Alomar were awesome.
