The saying implies the guy is aroused and should'nt be. Cold water is the enemy of erections.

Usually, when a guy says he's gonna go take a cold shower, he's referring to the idea or act of trying to cease any sexual excitement he is experiencing at the moment. Some men believe that a cold shower will "kill" an erection...(I'm guessing this probably really does work in most cases.) A man who is sexually excited but cannot act upon it (through sex with a partner or masturbation) may seek to end his frustration with a cold shower. Not the best way to handle it, in my opinion...probably doesn't feel too great...lol! If I were a guy, I would probably rather masturbate than take a cold shower.

It means that he is either going to take off his clothes and get in the shower and turn the cold water on and get in so that he will cool down form a intense sexual though or close experience, or take his clothes off and turn on the cold water and jerk off so that it sounds like he is just taking a shower.

The "cold shower" is supposed to stifle sexual arousal. It really doesn't, but it is an old saying.

Cold water is suppose to help you lose the erection and stop all thoughts of intercourse. It should help you calm down.

Its just a figure of speech. It means they got very sexually stimulated (horny)and need to cool off.
