ok so i installed vista backed all my important stuff onto dvd's and now some of the dvd's cause my comp to not responding is there a way to recover the data on the dvd's ive tried some of them data recovery softwares and spent 60.00 on it so far and i dont wana waist any more money any help would be great all i need to do is get the data off dvd's thank you in advance

You might have cyclic redundancy check errors on the DVDs that you backed up the info on. If thats the case, it will be very difficult to recover that data. For future reference, you should always verify written data after you burn the DVD to make sure there wasn't any errors in the burning process. Most burning software will have an option to "verify written data." For instance, with Nero, there is a check box on the bottom as soon as the burning process begins. Then the program will read everything and make sure there isn't any errors.

First of all, if you used a backup program, you will need to use the restore option in the prog.

If you just copied the files on the DVD, it is very possible that the DVD burning process caused errors therefore corrupting the DVD. try the DVDs on another computer.
