Real meaning or just a feeling?
Real meaning can only come from having a real purpose; a real reason for being on this planet. Only your Creator can give you real purpose and real meaning.
If you're just talking about a feeling, then you should really ask in the Psychology section. A feeling of meaning comes mostly from having high self-esteem. So do something that you can imagine will be praised such as helping at a homeless shelter.
Self praise and the imagined praise of others is the key to inventing our own imagined meaning because we can then connect praise with worth and then worth with meaning. For example, your good feelings about helping the homeless will cause you to think that helping the homeless is what you are supposed to do in life.

There are several "right" answers here already, and I only wish to add my 2 cents.
Live is given meaning when we, as Life personified, choose to give it meaning. When we decide that we have a purpose, that our actions carry weight and can make a difference for ourselves or the world, as opposed to those actions fading away into obscurity....in that moment, which becomes this moment, when we begin to believe- we become more of who we already are, we can remember that our lives have led us to this point and that we sit at the eternal crossroads.

Faith in an Almighty and benevolent God. From that springs a life of serving others as well, and being mindful and prayerful of omnipotent guidance. Also, children, our future, give new meaning to life, as they are born innocent, and are here to cherish and nourish, not just for adult pleasure.
