my wife gets upset at me because i really dont care what i wear?

i wear clothes that dont match most of the time, for awhile i was wearing to different color sandals, one yellow one tan, one time i wore 2 different shoes, i just dont care what other people think, i am retired, make a great pension have great freinds that dont care so whats the big deal, i dont need somebodies approval of what i wear,

sure cindy, but i am always having fun, you know being retired, cruising the RV riding the quads or my boat,, yep retirement fits me well, just ask my friend

Good for you! I truely applaud anyone that can go about their lives doing whatever they want and wearing whatever they want and not caring what other people think! That's a little something I gotta work on myself.

You are wondering why your wife is getting upset, I am assuming. The answer is that you are a reflection of how well or poorly she takes care of you. This may seem silly in this age of woman's independence and individuality, but some of the old ideas about a wife being able to 'take care of her man' are still out there. You are in dirty clothes, it reflects on her housekeeping abilities. You're skinny and always seem hungry, it reflects on her ability to cook. You may not believe this, and even she may deny it, but that little voice from waaay back in her past is still wispering in her ear. You may not care about what people think of you, but if you care about what people think of HER, then bite the bullet and get sandles that match and wear clothes that don't make you look like a circus clown..... show her a little respect, she'll appreciate it.

I am with you up to a point. I wear what I want but to be honest having shoes or sandals that don't match, or for instance buttoning your shirt wrong just creates a bad impression, people think you look funny, silly, worth laughing at. I also think its good to be clean, just for its own sake and also because you don't want people to think of you as dirty or smelly. Anyway, its up to you, have a good retirement, enjoy whatever you do!!

your definately right that it's your choice, but I would at least wear the same colored shoes. Maybe people don't wear matching clothes....my boyfriend(he's color blind), and there isn't really anything wrong with that. Personally I dress nice and my boyfriend just asks me what he should wear or asks if things look ok together. If he dresses without asking me it doesn't really bother me that he doesn't match because it's just who he is and I love him no matter what. I would fix the shoe thing though...most people probably think your not paying attention

OK..you need to go clothes shopping with her, she should show you what she 'wants' you wear. You show her in the store what you want to 'wear' and maybe you can buy clothes that make you feel comfortable and her happy that you look presentable to the world.

Maybe she feels that people thinks she lives with a beggar from the streets! so why not try and meet her half way and resolve this issue? You sound like a good guy who would want to make his wife happy!

if its just your style its hard to make someone change when they really like dressing like that...

but if you just don't care... then perhaps you should make your wife happy by dressing a bit nicer maybe half of the week or when you are out with other people? some sort of compromise to ake her happy.

It is embarrassing to be seen with a disheveled slob in public. I check my hubby's attire also. He knows it is because I love him. Now he says, "find me something to wear that suits you", he thinks that I am being silly, but complies because *It matters to ME*, He loves and respects me. Since you do not care, you should get a divorce, and be a hermit.

I rarely match ... as far as I am concerned the tackier the better. If my husband is embarrassed by me he is welcome to pick out my clothes. (which he frequently does).

Tell your wife that if she wants to lay out clothes for you that you will wear them. Otherwise, you'll dress in what ever comes to hand first and if a few people smile because you look silly - Good! Outright laughter is even better. :D
