I do not think anyone really high up in American government would be there if they were out of the closet - very sad, but probably true (may I be wrong). Someone who is not mentioned here is Mark Leno, who is a California Assemblyman from San Francisco.
Canada has legalized gay marriage on July 20, 2005. The other countries who have legalized same-sex marriages are the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, and Spain - all have different rules and levels of equality compared to opposite-sex marriages.

Yeah nearly all the nuts in Congress and our Senate. There have been Mayors and Governors in different cities and States.
And gay marriages are not Legalized as yet. But in San Francisco the Mayor allowed them to occur and so it was legal. Some states recognize gay marriages. Personal I have nothing against them, if they are happy and well adjusted it is great. Besides why should we condemn them if we live in sin too. How many people live together for years have children and never get married. Which is worst living a lie or gay marriages..

Tammy Baldwin is the first woman elected to Congress from the state of Wisconsin, and is currently serving her fifth term. She was also the first ever openly gay non-incumbent to be elected to the House of Representatives, her election having won the backing of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. Baldwin is one of two openly gay members of Congress, the other being Barney Frank of Massachusetts. Her partner is Lauren Azar

I believe it was a senator who recently stepped down because be came out as a homosexual. Mass. is the only state that has legalized this immoral act though they recently refused allow a popular vote on whether or not homosexual marriage should still be allowed.
