Islam is not a violent religion. It is the EXTREMISTS who use it as an excuse to kill. Also it is not because of the principles of their religion that Palestinians want their land back...it is because Israel has some of their important, historical religious landmarks.

As much as I hate to say this, but the record of Christians though out history hasn't been too peaceful for a religion based on the peaceful teachings of Jesus. No country and no religion is exempt from causing or being involved in war.
India had a war a number of years ago just because of language differences. An India is the world's largest democracy.
Go figure.

There are two reasons--one historical and the other current.
The historical reason is that the whole process of establishing Israel as a state in 1948 was handled badly. Don't get me wrong--I support Israel's right to exist. But the European powers and the US simply ignored the rights of the people living in Palestine and used force to clear them ot of the area--a place they and their ancestors had lived for centuries. That was unjust--and unnecessary.
The contemporary reason (aside from continuing resentment of how the state of Israel was established) has to do with the occupation of Gaza and the West Baknnk. No one can really argue with Israel occupying the area--the continuing threat of terrorism makes that necessary. But there is absolutely nO EXCUSE for Israeli colonization (building settlements) on the West Bank. That is not legitimate occupation--it is simply theft of property that does not belong to them.
And as long as Israel continues this policy--as long as they are attempting to use the occcupation as a cover for setting up permanant control of the West Bank/Gaza--there will be no peace--because on this point the Palestinians and their Arab supporters are right.

I thought Israel was being attacked by two particular terrorist groups, Hezbollah and Hamas.
I didn't realize that 1.3 billion people (20% of the world population) was actively attacking them....
And yes, Islam is as much a religion of peace as Christianity is. That doesn't people from committing horrible atrocities in the name of the religion -- it just means that the INDIVIDUALS doing so are not actually following the core religious principles and twisting things to suit their criminal intent.
Wanting to destroy everyone because of the acts of a few radical fanatics makes those idiots no different than the terrorists they claim to hate.
Fanatics delende est (Fanatics must be removed).

Islam is definately NOT a "religion" of peace by any stretch of the imagination. Throughout history right up to the present day, Islam has been the most violent, intollerant, and hateful "religion" on the planet.

There are extremists within Islam, but not all of Islam are extremists or terrorists. The extremists are giving Israel a hard time because they believe that Israel is giving them a hard time.
