Because they want you to be as healthy as can be. Getting pregnant right away can cause serious health risks for both mother and second (or third or whatever) baby. Your body needs time to heal before it can support another pregnancy. It is, of course, your choice. The doctors just recomend it for health reasons.

It's there job. For alot of reasons. they know that it is fairly easy to get pregnant right after you just had a baby and if you wanted birth control this is the ideal time to start. No they aren't picking on you or suggesting that you shouldn't have anymore. It's just their job.

my dr did the same, but i wasnt to bothered, i was quite glad to go back on BC after that experience lol

your very fertile after you have a baby apparently, and your advised not to have sex again till the baby is about 6 weeks old so maybe thats why they do it, so you dont become pregnant again so soon after having a baby.
I cant even imagine having a baby so soon after going through what i did, it was nice to give my body some time to recover!

Because it is not healthy to be pregnant again so quickly. Your uterus needs time to rebound.
