Recently I noticed that I am unable to open any of my drives because whenever I try to do so, a msg. box appears to open the drive with a particular program such as MS Word, which is not possible. I f I try to open it by right clicking on the drive, the "Open" option is written in an unknown language like an encryption or symbols, etc. Is this a virus even though I have an updated Antivirus on my PC. Pl. help..........

Something appears wrong here.
First, reboot the pc - this cures a lot.
Second update your virus protection and do a scan.
Third run all Microsoft security updates from the Microsoft site.
Fourth, defrag the hard drive.
After all this try to open it.

Try going up to the top header, click on Tools, Folder Options, then on the View tab. Scroll down until you see Show All Files and Folders, and click on it.

How long has this been happening? Have you tried a system restore point yet? Have you installed any new software lately. I bet you have installed or removed something and deleted a windows system font.
