if there have been worse floods , higher temperatures or whatever in the past then it must mean things are getting better.
UK has its worst floods for 60 years therefore floods are not as bad as 60 years ago. Therefore climate change is rubbish

How can this be???????

The causes of these differnt floods are often very different. The current flooding in Bangladesh is different to the recent flooding in the UK which in turn was different to the flooding in the UK 60 years ago.

In March 1947 the UK suffered extensive flooding because the preceding two months had been bitterly cold and the ground had frozen solid. During the same time the heaviest snow accumulations ever recorded had built up. In Early March there was a sudden rise in temperatures leading to a rapid thaw, because the ground was frozen solid the water wasn't absorbed into the ground and as a result the meltwater ran off causing widespread flooding.

Although you claim that climate change is rubbish it's interesting to note that in the UK (as elsewhere) winters have been getting progressively warmer, shorter, wetter and with less snowfall. Until the 1960's heavy snowfalls occurred every few years, now they're much less frequent.

The floods of 1947 were the worst on record until the floods of 2000 (primarily England), this new record didn't last long and was broken by the flooding of 2005 (Carlisle, York etc), this record lasted until June 2007 (Yorkshire etc) and this one lasted until July 2007 (western England). In just 7 years the record has been broken 4 times, detailed records date back almost 250 years. Statistically the odds of this happening are almost one million to one against.

Factor in the increasing number of hurricanes and tornadoes, the fact that this is so far the hottest year on record, last year is the hottest full year on record, the highest ever temperatures recorded the year before, the heatwave the year before that. We shouldn't be having extreme weather events this frequently, in the past they happened about once every 30 years, now they're an annual occurrence.

Ask a weather man, they can be wrong all the time and we still watch them ever time they come on TV. An their stupid explanations are as dumb as they are, and we still watch.....do we ever think they will get it right or are we as dumb as a coal bucket?
