Oh, wow, there are so many beautiful hikes in the canyons surrounding SLC and Park City. Cecret Lake is one that I just found out about and plan to do this summer. Here is a link for that hike: http://www.utahoutdooractivities.com/cecretlake.html
Also, you can do internet search for Utah hikes and find lots of trails, or stop in at Barnes and Noble when you get here and buy a book.
Have a great time! Maybe I'll see you on the trail...

The problem is that you have to drive a bit to get to the major attractions ... and I'm not sure you have time to do that. Zion and Bryce are positively wonderful, but a hike from SLC. Arches/Canyonlands probably is your best bet in terms of driving distance. However, I'd at least look at spending Wednesday at Zion and Thursday at Bryce.

Don't miss Zion or Bryce National park. They are small to drive through but the site is spectacular there is nothing like it.
When you drive to Zion you think that you are on another planet.
The hiking trails in Zion and Bryce are exemplary. Of course you might want to see the Grand Canyon from the north rim.

What ever you do don't miss Canyon Lands, and Arches. If you have time definitely see Zion and Brice National Parks.
Next time you come out west go to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It is the grandaddy of all the Parks and great hiking trails. No American should ever miss the Grand Canyon if at all humanly possible!!!!!!!!

Arches National Park is amazing, the best things to see and do in Utah are all outside of SLC.

You are in for such a treat. I'm not sure about the hiking, but the sand dunes there are beautiful. You really must go see.
