The difficulty with the question is that we can be referring to real meaning or to just feelings of meaning.

Real meaning comes from living for a real purpose and a real purpose, i.e. the reason why we were put on this earth, can only come from a Creator/God.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell

Another confusion concerns evolution. Evolution cannot grant meaning because evolution is a mindless natural process just as weather is a mindless natural process. Evolution cannot grant us meaning any more than a snowstorm can grant meaning to a snowflake. So under evolution, neither life nor death nor survival nor procreation can be meanings.

If we are just talking about feelings of meaning, then there are several psychological techniques for getting those feelings.
For example, one answer is "To strive to leave the world a better place than when you entered". Here the answerer is inviting you to do something to increase your self esteem, maybe volunteer at a homeless shelter, for example. Now praise yourself and imagine others praising you. Now imagine that helping the homeless is why you were put on this earth. It is a technique for creating the illusion of purpose.

But if we want real purpose and real meaning, then we have to seek God.

I liked it soo much better as THE life of meaning-- for that would personify meaning and entail that it had a life, a story, a beginning, middle and end full of ups and downs-- and the possibilities for answering that are already making my head spin. But since that's not the question....

It all depends on what is meaningful to YOU. Most people have some sort of value system based on how they were raised, their culture, their religion, their personal life experiences etc etc. This value system may spell it out for you (as certainly most religions spell out what should be 'most' valuable and 'most' meaningful in your life). However, in the ever growing 'me' culture, most people have the idea that what is meaningful should be highly personal and subjective to the individual-- you pick what makes you feel good and THAT is the most 'meaningful'.
In the end, no one but you can tell you what you place value on, but a Life of Meaning, is figuring out what is the meaningful thing in Your life and then striving to live that way to the fullest until your last breath.
After all-- if you are doing what you value most, then you will never be disappointed in yourself.

So many questions of the same...Hopefully I'll get a best answer on one of these. I believe it comes down to the individual. We influence eachothers lives and as humans we are very receptive to the outcomes of these influences. Everyone has a different reason for living. As a whole I believe we are meant to advance our understanding and knowledge of the things around us and are meant to one day come together making this a world of love. Peace is hard to achieve because there will always be someone wanting complete control of everything. I feel we are meant to focus on our similarities rather than what we are doing now, focusing on our differences.

Relationships with family

Relationships with friends,

Learning about the nature of the life and the universe ,

Feeling part of the cycles of the seasons,

Acting against injustice,

Observing or engaging in creative expression,

Being present in the moment,

And awareness of a large unity:

these give meaning to my life.

It's still a question I can't answer. Meaning, meaning, meaning... When you can appreciate living. Now that can have meaning. I don't know if I can set my heart on that answer though.

It seems to intimate that "meaning" has a life of it's own, like a fish.

It really has no meaning.
