During the day its about 74-76 degrees F and at night around 70-73. Is that good or bad? I have heard a rule that if your baby always feels a little warmer than you, is that true also? My baby is 5 months old.

When my daughter left the NICU, they told us to keep the thermostat around 72 degrees. I think they say that because most of their babies are preemies, though, and she was a full term, chubby little thing. I keep our thermostat around 74 degrees and the ceiling fans on. At night I put her in a long-sleeved sleeper and sleep sack, but I usually end up taking off the sleep sack because she seems warm.

I always heard to keep the baby in one more layer than you are in, but that is not necessarily true in the summer. The baby can overheat just as easily, so don't over do it!

If your baby is a term baby of average size, one layer of clothing over what you are comfortable in your home is sufficent. Leave off the baby hat unless your home is very cold or your baby is premature and maintaining heat is an issue. So if you are comfortable in your regular clothes, an outfit and maybe a blanket around or over the baby is fine. If baby is cold, they will let you know!! Overdressing is the leading cause of "fever" in our newborns!!! Unwrap them and the "fever" goes away!

sounds fine, just put him in a long sleeved/legged sleeper at night just in case he kicks off the blankets.
