I am losing weight and would like to hold off on buying a new swimsuit, all of my bathing suits need taken in on the side seams lower hip area and taken up in the should seams any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

No matter what you do, use either a stretch straight stitch or a tacking zigzag that is a stretch stitch...if you do any stitch that is not highly stretch, the seams will pop when you put the suit on IF it has to stretch length-wise. Put the suit on wrong-side out, pin the seams to the new fitting (not to tight), and put under machine with stretch stitch...trim to within 1/4" of new stitch line and you should be just fine. Lycra does not ravel out, so you needn't worry about the seam fraying. If you have a good overlock machine, use it set on stretch...binding, trimming, and seaming will happen all at the same time. IF you take in the suit at either the top or bottom, you will probably have to re-adjust the hip and bust lines, as they will no longer match up. Good luck

If you can, use elastic thread. Follow the instructions on the package. Use a zigzag or stretch stitch. Don't cut until after you sew.
