No --- Waiting on the shoes for a week or so will not affect your life style 1 iota. Asking for an advance on your salary without having a critical need can tend to make you look capricious and shallow and will definitely affect the way your boss (even though she is cool) views you.

. No way - $200.00 shoes is ridiculous You just started working there and to ask for an advance is not smart. Even though your boss is "cool" she will see that as irresponsible and to tell her you need it for SHOES!!! The shoes can wait, besides the price will go down in a month or two, learn to manage your money.

If you are a new employee, then no don't ask. It may reflect badly on you. Even though your boss likes you and she is cool, you never know what will change her opinion of you, and if you ask for an advance this could do it. You are there to earn money. Most employers won't advance money to anyone. Remember employers are not your "friend" or your parent.

There in NO ONE on the planet that NEEDS $200 shoes. If I was your boss and you asked me for an advance for this reason, I would ask myself if I needed to keep you employed.

you dont need to spend 200 dollars on shoes anyway. in 10 years it wont matter what you wore in high school. is your life worth only 200 cause some people will kill to get those shoes off your feet.
