I feed my leopard gecko crickets and mealworms. I always have a variety available and mealworms dissapear out of the bowl. I've also fed a few wax worms as treats when I buy those for my toads.

I get 100 crickets a month and 250 mealworms (delivered every 4 weeks from http://www.flukerfarms.com ) Obviously I have more then one lepord gecko, but whats left when the new shipment comes gets fed to the chickens.

Mealworms are the best for Leopard Geckos. Yes, the best. If you can get them to eat them regularly, do it! They prefer crickets because of the movement; mealworms mostly just sit there. Also, most are raised on crickets and just don't think of mealworms as food yet. But leave mealworms available at all times (in a dish, of course, with calcium powder too!) and forget about crickets.

From "The Leopard Gecko Manual" (de Vosjoli, Klingenberg, Tremper & Viets; who are vets, breeders, and researchers!) p. 31:

"Mealworms make a fairly good diet for leopard geckos. Animals exclusively fed mealworms for the first few years of their lives obtained most of the leopard gecko longevity records. Apparently, leopard geckos can achieve substantial life spans with diets consisting primarily of these insects. No study to date has proven that crickets or other insects are more beneficial to leopard geckos."

Superworms would be a lot more dangerous than mealworms, if you're worried about digestion.

Mealworms are a fine food for Leopard Geckos. They are not good for Bearded Dragons (they can't digest the shell well and may cause impactions). Mine likes superworms and phoenix worms as well. It is an old wives tale that the worms can chew through their stomachs!

No I gave them to my gecko, and it would eat them sometimes. But I think they prefer crikets, because when mine had crickets and mealworms my lizard always ate the crickets.

It is ok for them to eat mealworms once in a while because mealworms are hard to digest. Crickets would be better though.

I read somewhere that mealworms have powerful jawbones and even when ingested they can chew their way out of the stomach of small geckos. crickets can nibble on your gecko too if left in the cage too long.

Yes they are fine, but depending on how old he is he may or may not like them. You can also feed him pinkies if you want to.
